Any one who knows me knows I have loved the show Glee from day one. It has had its good episodes and its bad episodes. Lets be honest the show is a myriad of plot holes story issues wrapped in pop songs that have pretty impressive production values for a high school glee club.
Unless you have been living under a rock you know about Corey Monteith passing away in July quite unexpectedly and last night was the tribute episode quite simply titled The Quarterback. I am going to go completely against popular opinion here and state the episode was awful. Three truly heartbreaking moments in the hour long show are worthy of true grief. Finn's mother, Sue Sylvester and Rachel were all heart breaking moments. The only performance worthy of true remembrance is Rachel singing "Make You Feel My Love". Knowing that Lea Michelle was not only playing Rachel singing about her love, but that she was also singing about her real life boyfriend Corey Monteith. As for the other two Finn's mother was heartbreaking and devastating as the loss of a child is one of the most significant heartbreaks one could face. The actor who plays that part showed that emotion with perfection. Sue Sylvester played by Jane Lynch was also beautifully portrayed as the antagonist bully who shows that even she can hurt by such a loss. The regret and sadness was there in a moving way.
Now on to the rest.
The only thing I can say about the rest of the cast in this episode is rather than providing a fitting tribute all they did for me was show that they are extremely poor actors. Fake crying, over the top lashing out, I am not sure there were more than a few tears between the entire remaining cast. Do not get me wrong I understand grief is displayed differently for all but what I saw was not grief. What I saw was a bunch of actors who could not summon an actual tear for not just a character but I would have assumed a real life friend. The whole episode felt forced and in my opinion not a fitting remembrance episode nor a tribute. I would have rather seen a clip show of some of Monteith's/Finn's greatest moments and performances. Sprinkled with the cast as themselves or their characters remembering him. Instead what I got was what I would consider one of the worst episodes in the shows history (next to the school shooting episode).
The songs were completely chosen to evoke sadness and all they evoked from me was frustration.
This episode truly more than any other disappointed me in a major way.
In short I think it sucked.
It may be an unpopular opinion but it is mine and now it is out there.
Just saying.

Give the man a Break!!!
So the Governor of Colorado is getting shit because he stated "equal rights" for all Coloradans based on the Civil Unions bill.
Yes we all know that civil unions is NOT marriage but you know we had NOTHING yesterday, let's celebrate the victory and the step in the right direction. Not crap all over the governor for a misplaced statement. A victory is a victory. PERIOD.
As I have stated elsewhere, I am very thankful that I have more rights in the State of Colorado today, then I did before...
Things are changing and the bitches who are choosing to look a gift horse in the mouth can shut up!
Ideal? NO
Right Direction? FUCK YES!
Instead of shitting on it lets work for the next step.

Welcome to the land of Hypocrites....
Just a quick musing,
I saw an editorial on the Dixie Chicks and how they are still hated because of what they said.... yet I find it funny how the same people who hate them for disparaging the President, say far worse things about our current president.
You know any one of the country artists could come out and say I am ashamed that Obama is from the US or Hawaii or even that he is a president... and they would be praised and probably given a special lifetime achievement country music award.
Funny

Ok so...
Ok so I went on vacation in February, which is why there was basically nothing from me in that whole month. We were gone for 2.5 weeks. We went to NYC where we spent a couple days and saw The Book of Mormon, and Newsies. Both amazing shows but the Book of Mormon was absolutely the funniest show I have ever seen. I am hoping that when it returns to Denver here we can score tickets. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Next we headed to Baltimore where we spent some time with my best friend Sami and her husband. We did all the touristy type stuff in Baltimore and even spent a day in Washington DC. Jason and I would like to go back to DC in the warmer months and spend some quality time there. We kept it pretty minimal because you know it is still somewhat cold in February.
Then we set off on what was my favorite part of the trip. The cruise. I love cruising and I am ready to go again without even thinking. We boarded the boat in Baltimore (Never again in the winter) and spent the first two days at sea. It was AWESOME! We participated in games like Win Lose or Draw and Jason participated in Last Man Standing which is a survivor like competition. (By survivor I am referencing the types of competitions they do, they did not make them live secluded on an island or anything) It was a blast.
Our first port was Port Canaveral which is about 45-50 miles east of Orlando. Jason and I did an excursion to Universal's Islands of Adventure. It was one of the main reasons we chose this cruise. It was so I could go to the Harry Potter area and have a geekgasm. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was worth it alone. We actually rode that ride twice we enjoyed it so much. We had lunch at the Three Broomsticks, and explored the HELL out the place, they did an amazing job at creating an authentic Harry Potter experience. The rest of the park was fun as well, but hard to compare when the Harry Potter portion was so amazing. I remember a Marvel area and Dr. Seuss. There was a show that kinda came off misleading, it was called Poseidon's Fury. We waited forever for it and when we finally got in, it was so cheesy and lame. If you ever venture to Islands of Adventure I would recommend skipping this, it is not worth it in any facet. I would recommend getting an Express Pass if you go at any regular busy time, as it will save you a TON of time and you will get to do more than a couple rides. I can see how this place could be frustrating if you had to spend most of your time in line. Jason and I did actually get the pass and I think we were thankful for having done so. It afforded us the ability to to the whole park in the time we were there.
We got back on the boat and headed out to Nassau, The Bahamas. Our excursion for the day was to be the Atlantis Aquaventure. It was supposed to include a tour of the grounds and the aquarium. Wait let me go back a bit... after we were ready to head out Jason and I went to breakfast on the boat. Anyone who has been on a cruise knows that sometimes you get sat at tables with other people. Well RANDOMLY J and I got sat at a table with another Bear couple. Who just so happened to be going on the exact same excursion. So we met up to go on the excursion together and decided to skip the whole tour part and do the water park portion. That is one of the most amazing water parks I have ever been to. SO much fun. Yes we did do the big slide you see in all the commercials for the place. That is basically where we spent our day. The lazy river/rapids was the best part, because some of the water coasters are right off of that and you never have to leave your tube.
The next stop was Freeport, Bahamas. This stop was ok. J and I did an excursion where we learned how to harvest and cook Conch (said CONK) shells. It was very tasty. The most frustrating part of that though was a drunk homophobic douchebag who decided the term faggots was fine to throw around. I do know that J and I need to find some Conch so we can make the conch salad we learned to make. I have all of the recipes and want to give it a shot.
The food was amazing the massages were amazing and the whole cruise was worth it. I would highly recommend Carnival to anyone, they are affordable and completely fun!
After that we returned to Baltimore (yuck for the cold) and then returned here to Denver. Overall it was amazing.
Unfortunately coming back to work after 2.5 weeks left me with a shit ton of work and stress. On the plus side, I got my promotion so I am now officially in title and salary an accountant.
So that is basically where I have been and what has been up. Hopefully I will get better about posting now things have slowed down a bit. Although I am contemplating going for my Masters degree... but that is still in the early decision process.

Forget Regret...Or Life Is Yours To Miss...
I have to debate this phrase from Rent. For me some of my regrets are seriously part of who I am. Am I missing life? I do not think so. For me I personally feel that the phrase would be better served by saying Don't dwell on regret, or life is yours to miss.
I seriously do not think there is anyone in life that has no regrets. I think if they say so they are being dishonest with themselves. Regret is a part of life. At one time or another everyone makes the wrong choice or .... let me change that. Not makes the wrong choice but makes an alternate choice. (even that does not sound right) In life choices for most are not right or wrong. Now please do not get me wrong I am not talking about whether to kill or steal. Those are obvious rights and wrongs. I am talking about choices in life, directions. In school do I choose to major in subject A or subject B, should I go work for A company or B company, and other similar decisions.
I would venture to say that most of us at one time in our lives have wished we have chosen A over B or vice versa. I know for myself my life is littered with choices that if there were a time machine and I could change them I would. This is where I find an enigma. I am in a very good place in my life right now... and who is to say that my life would truly be any better if I had made different choices? Sure we can all spend hours fantasizing about how things would be better if we had made alternate choices. This is where I feel the dwelling part comes in. I am very guilty of spending hours, and this is not to say that there are not days that I still don't, thinking about how I wish I would have made an alternate choice. One of the epiphanies that I have had while in this potentially spiraling thinking is that, here I am happy in life and had I made any alternate choice in life would I still be as happy? Would I still be happy? Who knows hence the descriptor of spiraling. I am not saying my life is perfect by any means but I have seriously believe if I had not made the choices I would not be where I am at right now and where I am is amazing.
So here is kind of my point in this.... To forget regret we are saying lets forget the choices we make, and for me I do not think that is the ideal option. I remember my regrets so I can make more informed and knowledgeable choices going forward. Where regret can be a hindrance or an issue is when we dwell on them. Which is allowing ourselves to be come caught up in them and dragged down the shame spiral about how we should've, could've, would've. Instead I suggest to LEARN from our past and move forward in life utilizing the knowledge we have gained to make more informed decisions.
Don't dwell on regret, but instead learn from it, or life is yours to miss.
Just an opinion.

Why must we all be such needy, bitchy, queens? (How do you like that label?)
Ok I understand how public figures in the likes of Anderson Cooper, Zachary Quinto, and Jodie Foster are vital assets to our fight for equal rights to be honest and open about the fact that they are homosexuals. Especially with the rash of young people killing themselves for fear of a life of constant retribution and unabashed hate. I mean it is wholly discouraging when we are in 2013 still FIGHTING for our RIGHTS. Rights that are clearly afforded to us by the Constitution of the United States with no addendum for who you are in love with. I digress the rights issue is another post for another time....
So there was major backlash headed up by obnoxiously loud homos about how Jodie Foster chose to come out. From things like she did not specifically state "I'm Gay" or "I'm a Lesbian" to how she SHOULD have stated everything.
I mean come on HAVE WE FORGOTTEN how difficult is it to come out. For a good chunk of us we are not EVEN in the public eye. So before getting all up in Jodie's grill for how she came out, lets take a moment to think about how long she has been around, how difficult it is to come out, and how significantly more difficult it is to come out to the entire world.
Yes, I am not saying that things are not somewhat easier today than 5 years ago... but Jodie is from a different era, and in that era you just kept things like that to yourself.
Does that mean that it is still easy today especially when you are a celebrity? Where the fuck do we get off thinking we DESERVE to know about any celebrities sexual orientation. In the age of paparazzi and celebrities never getting a moment of privacy it seems we have all just sort of shifted to this mindset that since any man or woman chose to be in the entertainment industry we deserve to know every aspect of their private life. I mean it is vicious, look at Britney Spears, and Lindsey Lohans the latter of which is STILL not fully able to cope with a life where privacy does not exist. It takes a strong person to be able to deal with that kind of scrutiny and those people who are so extremely vocal while hiding behind aliases on the computer about how we DESERVE more information are 9 out of 10 time not the type of people who would be able to deal with that kind of lack of privacy.
So why can we not celebrate the fact that Jodie Foster as well as every other OUT AND PROUD celebrity has made the step in the ways THEY FEEL are most comfortable.
Don't think for one moment that they have it easy. Especially in a world where we have Westboro and other equally vile and hateful organizations that will do everything in their power to inflict emotional and mental harm on those in the public eye who make such a brave step.
In essence I am saying we as a gay community should NOT be bitchy, needy queens and demand that celebrities come out of the closet to our specifications. Instead lets celebrate that we now have another person on OUR side that will help us accomplish the goal of equality. REGARDLESS of how they came out. Be it on the cover of Newsweek with a "Yep I'm Gay" tagline or a simple as thanking the person they have shared a significant part of their life with.
We are all part of the same team and one day I hope that it will not even be Gay vs. Straight but one team of HUMANS. Where who we love does not matter. Yes I know that is idealistic bullshit but you know if we do not work for that then who will?
Cheers.
